About

Kirstin Wishart - Graduand of Orkney College UHI 2016, Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours in Fine Art Textiles

This blog was originally set up as part of my coursework for a 'Professional Practice' module and after finding it another useful means to support documentation of my work and have continued it to what you see today.

I was born and raised in Orkney, an island off the North East coast of  Scotland and have continued to study here.
I find living on an island both isolating and rewarding. Orkney offers a unique, safe way of living and is home to a diverse range of artists.

My work currently explores the idea of legacy and the idea of a present absence. This stemming from my Mothers secondary Breast Cancer diagnosis where my artwork has become a form of therapy to try and comprehend absence within ones life.
