"How's your college work going?"

This is my response...

I felt so much better after doing these spur-of-the-moment ink ...'ramblings' I'll name them!

On looking at them again after doing them yesterday to blow off some steam!- I actually find them quite interesting.

Ingrid Budge - 'Around Orkney'

In a visit at For Arts Sake in Kirkwall to see Ingrid Budge's photographic exhibition 'Around Orkney'.

Captivating images of Orkney. The above image used in the advertising posters 'Birds in the West' was one which kept catching my eye.

I am quite an admirer of Ingrids photographic style. Was interesting to note that most of the photographs within the exhibiton were captured on an iPhone.

Butterflies

The paper sculpture entitled 'Butterlfies' has travelled to Orkney. It is currently exhibited in the Orkney Library.

A truly intricate and beautifully fragile piece.

There is to be another project with the anonymous female artist, which is a collaborative venture with the public. An open invitation to create your own butterfly which will be used in a large scale sculpture.

Got the instructions to make one - which I will do!

Shaun the sheep

My friend Louise is currently in London and encountered some sculptures...

Big fan on Shaun the Sheep! Lots of different artists have put there own creative twist on the sculptures and have been placed all around London. They will all be auctioned off later in the year for charity.

Family tree

Out a rare, overnight, visit to Shapinsay to see my Granny.

We have been looking through my Grandads papers on the family tree research he had done. He was great for taking down notes, just not organising anything!

So the task so far has just been to raid through the box file and sort into an order

Lots of bits of notes and things and a LOT of names and dates just right now as we have left it tonight. But with time will get a better grip on it all. Very interesting! Just not quite sure what I will do with all this information yet...

Meantime, there has been another name to add to my more 'immediate' family tree. My nephew August J David. Born today. That makes me an auntie six times over now!
